Garden Chairs

I upcycled some old garden chairs, originally very ugly green things, I spray painted the frames and made new seat cushions. Now just need some warm weather to enjoy them!

Renewal

So it has been 6 years since I moved out of my parents house, and I have shamefully left my old teenage bedroom exactly as it was all that time. So while they were away on holiday I redecorated. Now they have a usable guest bedroom!

The wallpaper on the feautre wall is Pietra Mosaic Gold, the other walls are painted in a warm cream. The curtain are made from a fabric which my mum had leftover from a previous project, hung on gold coloured poles.
I spray painted the frame of the wardrobe in gold and added new blue and gold handles.

Seven Sisters

On Sunday we visited the Seven Sisters cliffs on the south coast.
It was a lovely sunny day, and quite warm for February.
The rock formations are beautiful, and look like miniature valleys and rivers with lots of rock pools of varied depths. (Including some which look shallow and turn out to be deeper than your wellies....)

There was a very cool effect where two streams of water joined another stream at the same point and created squares on the water surface where the ripples overlapped.

Interior Concepts on Polyvore

I have been creating interior concepts using the collage website Polyvore. Each concept is based around a particular aesthetic which is described by the title.

You can view them here on Polyvore, where you can find more information about each of the objects.

Purse

I got a new sewing machine for my birthday, and I've been making some purses with it.
I got a bundle of small pieces of fabric and have been using contrasting colours from this.

Resin Pond Miniature

I saw a few examples of resin pond miniatures and thought I'd give it a go.

I used aquarium sand for the base, plastic grass, and sculpted the fish, frog, water lilies, and rocks out of Fimo (with one real pebble).

The resin comes as a liquid with a catalyst which you mix together and then leave to set.
First I mixed the resin mixture with the sand, and placed in an ice-cream tub. Then I arranged the rocks, reeds and underwater creatures. I then poured on the rest of the resin, and half way through the setting process i placed the water lilies on top.
Once it was dry, I cut away the ice-cream tub (which had partly dissolved at the corners) to leave the pond freestanding.
I would consider making the pond inside a ceramic bowl in the future, as I saw in some of the examples.

Liquid resin really smells! I would recommend doing this outside if at all possible. The resin does not smell once set.
